I had a great time at this year's Eden Mills Writers' Festival thanks to the complimentary ticket I won as a runner-up in the "Read at the Fringe Literary Contest" (poetry).
It was my first submission to the contest and the last opportunity to participate since next year I will no longer be eligible for it.
Finally — a book published in Canada (my sixth collection of poems).
Writing has been a long and winding road for me, with fits and starts and the traditional, run-of-the-mill obstacles many folks experience.
But there comes a point when we stop worrying about obstacles and recognize them for what they are: detours from the keyboard and the notebook.
And it's time to move on, buoyed by our curiosity for words.
